Kirk Loevner
Before joining Epocrates in 2004, Kirk served as CEO at three successful Internet companies, most recently Pinnacor, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOR) formerly Screaming Media, a financial services technology company he is credited with turning around and subsequently selling to CBS MarketWatch. Prior to Pinnacor, Kirk founded PublishOne Inc., a publishing service that allowed companies to securely distribute information online. In early 2001, Kirk sold PublishOne to InterTrust Technologies, a digital rights management company. Previously, he was CEO of Internet Shopping Network, the first retailer on the Internet.
Prior to leading these companies, Kirk spent nearly ten years at Apple Computer where he led the software division, ran Apple's software evangelism efforts for the Macintosh, and was part of the team that invented desktop publishing in the 80s. He started his technology career at VisiCorp, the company that sold the industry's first spreadsheet product, VisiCalc. Kirk received his B.S.E. degree in Computer Science from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
Dr. Philippe O. Chambon
Philippe O. Chambon has served on the Epocrates board of directors since August 2000. Since July 2005, Dr. Chambon has served as a Managing Director of New Leaf Venture Partners, a venture capital firm spun off from Sprout Group, the venture capital affiliate of Credit Suisse First Boston. Dr. Chambon holds an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the University of Paris and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. Dr. Chambon also serves as a director of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., NxStage Medical, Inc., Pharsight Corporation and several private biotechnology companies.
Rose Crane
Rose Crane joined the Epocrates board of directors in October 2008. Rose was most recently a Company Group Chairman at Johnson and Johnson, where she managed the OTC/Nutritional business worldwide. Prior to that she was an employee at Bristol Myers Squibb for 20 years, where she advanced to President of the U.S. Primary Care Business. Rose holds a B.A. from SUNY Oswego and an M.B.A. from Kent State University. Rose also serves as a director of Targanta Therapeutics.
Dr. John D. Halamka
John D. Halamka joined the Epocrates board of directors in August 2005. Dr. Halamka has been the Associate Dean for Educational Technology at Harvard Medical School since 2000, Chief Information Officer of Harvard Medical School since 2001 and Chief Information Officer of CareGroup Health Systems, a healthcare company, since 1998. Dr. Halamka holds a B.A. and a B.S. from Stanford University, an M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco, and an M.S. from Harvard Medical School.
Thomas L. Harrison
Thomas L. Harrison has served on the Epocrates board of directors since January 2002. Thomas has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Diversified Agency Services division of Omnicom Group, Inc., an advertising and marketing company, since May 1998. Thomas holds an M.S. in cell biology and physiology from West Virginia University. He also serves as a director of The Morgan's Hotel Group.
Patrick S. Jones
Patrick S. Jones joined the Epocrates board of directors in October 2005. Pat has been a private financial consultant since March 2001. Pat holds a B.A. from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A. from St. Louis University. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Lattice Semiconductor, Inc. and serves as a director of Genesys SA and several private companies.
Dr. Gilbert H. Kliman
Gilbert H. Kliman has served on the Epocrates board of directors since September 1999. Dr. Kliman has been a general partner of InterWest Partners, a private equity firm, since 1999. Dr. Kliman holds a B.A. from Harvard University, an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also serves as a director of Intralase Corp. and several private life science companies.
Dr. David C. Nagel
David C. Nagel joined the Epocrates board of directors in January 2006 and serves as lead independent director. From December 2001 to May 2005, Dr. Nagel served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PalmSource, Inc., a company that provides operating system software platforms for mobile devices. Dr. Nagel holds a B.S., an M.S. and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also serves as a director of Leapfrog Enterprises, Inc. and Tessera Technologies, Inc. and several privately held companies.
John E. Voris
John E. Voris has served on the Epocrates board of directors since June 2000. John has served as Chief Executive Officer and a director of Healthcare Acquisition Partners Corp., a blank check company, since September 2005. John served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Epocrates for four years (June 2000-2004). Prior to Epocrates, John spent nearly three decades at Eli Lilly and Company serving in a variety of leadership roles. John holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He also serves as a director of Oscient Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and a privately held company.
Mark A. Wan
Mark A. Wan has served on the Epocrates board of directors since September 1999. Mark has been a partner of Three Arch Partners, a venture capital firm, since 1993. He holds a B.A. and a B.S. from Yale University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. He has served on the boards of many private and public medical companies.
