How Epocrates MobileResearch Case Study
1Background
A customer wanted to monitor the adoption and usage of a newly launched drug to treat ADHD. The data was to be collected as physicians encountered each newly diagnosed ADHD patient. Although short in length, the proposed questionnaire was complex and included intricate skip patterns and filtering logic. Because of this, the customer ruled out a pencil and paper approach. While a web-based approach would address the questionnaire’s complexity, our customer feared that a web-based approach was just too inconvenient for physicians, and would lead to delays in recording the encounter. They needed physicians to record the information at the point of care while it was still fresh in their minds. This immediacy would be vital to the success of their study.
2Action
Our customer elected to leverage our MobileResearch technology to execute this longitudinal study. We recruited psychiatrists and primary care physicians from our panel and they recorded their encounters with newly diagnosed ADHD patients immediately following each patient visit.
3Conclusion
MobileResearch enabled our customer to execute a complex study at the point-of-care. The data collected was fresh and accurate. MobileResearch provided our customer with all the advantages of a web-based survey while offering study participants the convenience of submitting data on their mobile devices.
