New Study: Physicians Believe Epocrates
References Improve Patient Safety

In the largest study of its kind, researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School examined more than 1,500 physicians' usage of Epocrates mobile products. The recently published study found that:

  • Over 60% of participants reported preventing 3 or more adverse drug events in the prior month with Epocrates.

  • On average, physicians reported using the Epocrates drug reference more than 5 times per day.

  • Nearly 40% reported using Epocrates products during more than half of patient encounters.

  • Physicians who used the clinical references more frequently also reported more frequent benefits in improved care.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, 2006;13:619-626.
