Safety and Monitoring Updates

All drug monographs in the Epocrates Rx® mobile drug reference now include guidance about which laboratory tests, vitals signs, or physical findings, if any, are important to safe prescribing and monitoring of drug therapy.

New content also includes other drug-specific safety-related information such as therapeutic drug levels, non-interchangeable dosage forms, avoiding abrupt cessation of drug therapy, and inactive ingredients posing serious safety concerns.

If you have any questions about our Safety and Monitoring content, please contact our Medical Information editors at clinical@epocrates.com.

Safety Tips from AHRQ

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) recently published 10 Patient Safety Tips for Hospitals, drawing on findings from patient safety studies. One of the key tips is to "ensure personal digital assistant-based drug information is readily available at the point of care."

We are proud that it states "Epocrates Rx Pro® met AHRQ's quality and safety criteria by reducing potential errors associated with insufficient or incomplete drug information."

We encourage you to forward these tips to your hospital.
