Future Physicians of America

Future Physicians What do medical students think of the state of healthcare today, and what are their expectations for the future? Epocrates' 2nd annual Future Physicians of America study set out to answer these questions and more.

More than 1,000 students nationwide expressed their opinions on some of today's biggest health topics, including insurance coverage, technology, and DTC advertising.

They also revealed what they think about the quality of their education and shared their greatest concerns about becoming a practicing physician.

See their opinions, listen to a podcast from two medical students, and tell us if you agree!

Top 3 Summer Survival Features

Summer is a time for family vacations, outdoor activities, and al fresco dining. But as healthcare professionals know, it's also a time for allergies, insect bites, infections, and injuries!

A 2003 study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology revealed that 4-13% of passengers on several cruise ships were afflicted with acute gastroenteritis (AGE).(1) And a 2006 study published in Pediatrics showed that children at summer camps are prone to communicable diseases and minor injuries, with horseback riding and "capture the flag" being the most injury-producing activities.(2)

Here are 3 Epocrates features that can help you, your patients, and your family enjoy the summer!

Summer Survival Features:

1. Epocrates Dx™ (available in Epocrates® Essentials and Epocrates® Essentials Deluxe)

Our disease reference includes diagnosis and treatment information for many common summer-time diagnoses such as food poisoning, bee stings, heatstroke, and lumbar strain, as well as rare or tropical diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Ebola virus.

2. Travel Vaccination Table (included in the Tables module in your "my" tab or black bag tab)

Need to know what vaccinations are recommended for Eastern Europe? Select the "Vaccinations, Travel" table to review guidelines by region.

3. MobileCME® (available for free with all mobile products)

We don’t advocate working on your vacation, but MobileCME actually makes learning fun! So sit back on that long flight or relax at the beach while you earn CME/CE credits and learn something new! Choose from more than a hundred activities including "Carbonated Cola Drinks Drop Bone Density in Women" and "Tobacco Addiction."

P.S. For our customers who live in the Southern hemisphere, we hope you can use these suggestions when the weather gets warmer!
