Faces at an Orphanage
Jean is serving one year in Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. Of winning the $3,000 grand prize she says:
“It will be a great way to return to the States … I'm thinking Hawaii!”
We asked Jean to tell us more about her experiences in Afghanistan …
“I have already spent seven months in the Ghazni Province in Central Afghanistan and I cannot tell you how valuable Epocrates Essentials is to me here. I don't have to struggle with toting books around in a duffle bag, and most importantly it can go where I go. I have used Epocrates Essentials numerous times while out in the middle of nowhere!
I have been to some very remote parts of Afghanistan as part of a PRT (provincial reconstruction team).
The PRT is made up of different elements, including our Civil Affairs group, which does the contracting for building bridges, schools, wells, and roads, and my team, which runs a clinic for the Ghazni residents and also goes into remote villages to provide health care for the local people there.
When I am not in the field I also do sick call for the soldiers and work on CLS (combat Life Savers) classes for the ANA (Afghan National Army) soldiers.
It has been an interesting tour for me as a PA-C and one that I will never forget. I certainly couldn't have done it without Epocrates Essentials. Oh, and my interpreter, who is a Afghan doctor, loves the program as well!”
