Here are some tips to help you get the most out of the products and services that Epocrates offers.

Tip 1 – Look Up Pricing Information for Drugs and Labs

You can provide information on the approximate price of a drug and diagnostic test to patients who will be paying out of pocket. Pricing information is available within Epocrates drug monographs in all Epocrates mobile and web-based products. Lab pricing is available in the Epocrates Lab mobile diagnostic reference and Epocrates Essentials all-in-one mobile reference.

How?

To look up drug pricing ...

Mobile software users:

1. Tap on the Rx tab within the Epocrates application and look up a drug.
2. From the drug monograph menu, select Mfr/Cost Info.
3. View "Approximate Retail Price" from drugstore.com.
4. Plus, to find a cheaper alternative: Go back to the alphabetical drug list and look up cost information for another drug you have in mind, to compare pricing;
5. OR Tap on By Class in the lower right hand corner to look for a list of drugs in the same group.
6. Once you've narrowed your search down to the relevant group of drugs, you can quickly and easily look up and compare cost information for drugs in that group.

Epocrates Online users:

1. Tap on the Drugs tab within the Epocrates Online reference, and look up a drug.
2. Click on the Mfr/Cost Info button.
3. View "Approximate Retail Price" from drugstore.com.
4. Plus, to find a cheaper alternative: Look up another drug, and you'll automatically view the "Mfr/Cost Info" screen for that drug to compare pricing.
5. OR Tap on Class List beneath the drug list window to look for a list of drugs in the same group.
6. Once you've narrowed your search down to the relevant group of drugs, select any drug in the group to immediately view and compare cost information.

To look up lab pricing (Epocrates Lab/Epocrates Essentials only) ...

1. Tap on the Lab tab within the Epocrates application and look up a test.
2. From the lab monograph menu, select Cost/Billing.
3. View "Test Cost" to ascertain the price range of your lab.

Tip 2 – Use a License Code to Extend Your Subscription at Any Time

If you are already using an Epocrates premium product, and someone gives you a license code certificate for the same product, you don’t need to wait until your subscription ends before you can use the license code. Activate the license code immediately, and the full length of your complimentary subscription will be added to the end of your current subscription (for example, if you have 5 months left on your current subscription, and you activate a license code for a 12-month license, your subscription will be extended to 17 months). By activating your license code right away, you will have uninterrupted access to the product, and prevent your license code from expiring.

How?

1. Go to www.epocrates.com.
2. In the box under “Activate your product license”, enter your license code in full.
3. Click “Activate”.
4. Select your mobile and desktop operating systems (for handheld software) and then click "Checkout”.
5. Sign in with your email address and password. 
6. Complete the transaction.

Search by class to view a list of drugs in the same group.

Compare the average price of other drugs in the same group, and save your patients money.
