Determining operating system version on your Pocket PC mobile
- Tap on "Start Menu" icon upper, left-hand part of the screen.
- Select "Settings" from the start menu.
- After the Settings screen is displayed select the "System" tab.
- On the System page, tap on the "About" icon to open the Memory settings screen.
- Your mobile's operating system version will be displayed at the top of the screen as "Version X.Y.Z (Build A)," with numbers instead of X, Y, Z, and A. Note: Version 3 and higher is equivalent to Pocket PC 2000/2002 - 3.0.9 is Pocket PC 2000, 3.11 is Pocket PC 2002.
- Tap the "Ok" button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen to close this window when done.
Determining free memory (RAM) on your Pocket PC mobile
- Tap on "Start Menu" icon upper, left-hand part of the screen.
- Select "Settings" from the start menu.
- After the Settings screen is displayed select the "System" tab.
- On the System page, tap on the "Memory" icon to open the Memory settings screen.
- Your mobile's memory information is displayed on the lower portion of the screen. To calculate the total amount of free memory available on your Pocket PC device, add the amount of free "Storage" memory to the amount of free "Program" memory.
- Tap the "Ok" button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen to close this window when done.
- If you do not have the required amount of free memory available on your mobile you can create more space by removing unwanted programs and or files; instructions on how to remove programs or instructions on how to delete individual files
Removing programs from your Pocket PC mobile to get more free memory
- Tap on "Start Menu" icon upper, left-hand part of the screen.
- Select "Settings" from the start menu.
- After the Settings screen is displayed select the "System" tab.
- On the System page, tap on the "Remove Programs" icon to open the Remove Programs screen.
- A list of programs stored in memory is displayed on the screen; highlight the program you wish to delete by tapping on the item in the list and then tap the "Remove" button to open the Remove Program confirmation window.
- If you are sure you want to remove the program, click "Yes" when the confirmation popup window appears. Note: if you do not want to delete the file, click "No."
- Repeat steps 5 & 6 for each program you want to remove.
- Tap the "X" button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen to close the File Explorer when done.
Deleting files from your Pocket PC mobile to get more free memory
- Tap on "Start Menu" icon upper, left-hand part of the screen.
- Select "Programs" from the start menu.
- After the Programs screen is displayed, tap on the "File Explorer" icon to open the File Explorer program.
- On the File Explorer screen, select "My Device" from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. From the list of folders, select "My Documents."
- To delete unwanted files in this folder or subfolders, tap and hold the stylus down on the file you want to delete until the "actions" menu appears. Note: as you hold down the stylus you should see a series of red dots appear in a circular pattern; wait until the circle is complete before lifting your stylus.
- After the action menu is displayed, select the "Delete" option to open the "Confirm File Delete" screen.
- If you are sure you want to delete the file, click "Yes" when the confirmation popup window appears. Note: if you do not want to delete the file, click "No".
- Repeat steps 5 - 7 for each file you want to delete.
- Tap the "X" button in the top, right-hand corner of the screen to close the File Explorer when done.
