Three vaccines are available in the U.S. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine (brand name Comirnaty) is FDA-approved as a 2-dose primary vaccine series for the prevention of COVID-19 in individuals ≥16 yo. Age eligibility for Pfizer’s vaccine, under FDA EUA, includes children/adolescents ages 5 to 15; the Moderna mRNA vaccine & Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine are FDA-authorized for individuals ≥18 yo. Pfizer & Moderna are also available as a 3rd dose in certain immunocompromised pts; all 3 vaccines can be used heterologously as single booster shots based on eligibility criteria.
