Hepatotoxicity
clinical hepatitis and hepatic decompensation (including fatal) in patients on tipranavir + ritonavir 200 mg; incr. risk if chronic HBV or HCV co-infection
Intracranial Hemorrhage
fatal and non-fatal intracranial hemorrhage reported in patients on tipranavir + ritonavir 200 mg; other medical conditions or medications may have caused or contributed; no abnormal pattern of coagulation parameters observed, no routine monitoring recommended; caution in patients at incr. bleeding risk

HIV infection

- Info: for tx-experienced patients with multi-protease inhibitor resistance; not recommended per DHHS guidelines; give with ritonavir 200 mg PO bid; D/C if AST/ALT 5-10x ULN and total bilirubin >2.5x ULN in asymptomatic patients; do not open cap; give with food
