How do daily sample views work?

Free epocrates users

Free epocrates users have a set number of daily views to clinical content and limited access to AI Assist Beta. Free views reset daily at midnight Pacific time.

epocrates+ subscribers

All epocrates+ subscribers have unlimited access to clinical content, including prescribing, dosing, and treatment resources plus expanded AI Assist Beta queries.

Limited views are counted uniquely by topic and shared across resource categories within the app.

What counts as a free view?

Free epocrates users have access to the same clinical information and tools as epocrates+ subscribers, but with a set number of free daily content views.

Those views are counted by topic, so multiple subsection views are not registered separately.
AI Assist Beta queries are also limited, but do not count toward the daily content views.

Here are a few examples of what registers as a sample view across resource categories:

Drug page view

(one view per topic — expanding subsections does not count as separate views)

Completing a drug interaction search

Pill IDs results view

Calculators results view

Each of these content views counts toward the free daily limit, and each resource category does not have its own separate daily allowance.

Resources with unlimited usage for all users include:

Article views

Quizzes

Community polls

One exception to free daily access is the Disease content. Due to contractual limitations, we are currently unable to offer limited access to this content for free users. Disease content is available with an epocrates+ subscription.

What is AI Assist Beta in an epocrates+ subscription?

In addition to unlimited access to clinical content, epocrates+ subscribers also have early access to AI Assist Beta.

  • AI Assist Beta helps clinicians quickly find accurate clinical information from a trusted source. It answers complex questions about medications, drug interactions, and dosing. Clinicians can also ask questions to inform therapeutic decisions, better understand pathophysiology and diagnostic criteria, or review screening and prevention guidance. Clinicians can access these answers during patient care interactions, improving efficiency and quality of care.
  • The interactive tool goes beyond displaying static information. Query responses provide concise, conversational answers in real time. All query responses include sources and references with results.
  • This clinical intelligence tool differs from static search models. AI Assist Beta queries combine contextual details with comprehensive information to help clinicians provide informative, individualized care.
Note:

Limits on AI queries and content views are tracked separately, and meeting one of those limits does not affect access to the other.
