Comparing efficacy and safety of wakefulness-promoting agents in sleep apnea

May 12, 2023

card-image

A meta-analysis of 14 trials involving 3,085 patients with OSA-related excessive daytime sleepiness found solriamfetol to be most effective at reducing daytime sleepiness (measured by the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Maintenance of Wakefulness Test). Armodafinil-modafinil and pitolisant were also effective. Discontinuation risk related to adverse events is probably increased with armodafinil-modafinil and may be increased with solriamfetol.
