FDA panel backs full approval of Paxlovid as COVID-19 treatment

Yesterday, FDA's Antimicrobial Drugs Advisory Committee voted 16-1 in favor of granting full approval to Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir and ritonavir) for the treatment of COVID-19 in patients at high risk of progression to severe disease. Although the FDA isn't required to follow the advice of its advisory panels, it typically does.
