FDA warns of contaminated tattoo inks posing serious infection risk
May 15, 2025

FDA has issued a health alert advising consumers, tattoo artists, and retailers to avoid using or selling certain Sacred Tattoo Ink products due to contamination with pathogenic microorganisms, including P. aeruginosa. The affected products are Sacred Tattoo Ink, Raven Black (Lot#: RB0624) and Sunny Daze (Lot#: SD1124). Contaminated inks can cause infections, leading to rashes, lesions, and potentially permanent scarring. Symptoms of infection may be difficult to distinguish from allergic reactions, complicating diagnosis and treatment. Physicians should be aware of these risks and advise patients accordingly, particularly those considering new tattoos.
