Shannen Doherty, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, dies after breast cancer battle
Shannen Doherty, 53, has died after a nine-year battle with breast cancer. Initially diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2015, she went into remission for two years before the cancer returned as stage 4 and ultimately spread to her brain.
Despite the severity of her condition, Doherty continued her acting career while advocating for cancer research. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed her passing and paid tribute to her resilience, stating, “In the face of her illness, Shannen was an example of courage and determination, inspiring those around her.” (Heldman & Haward, 2024)
Doherty had documented her experiences with cancer in her podcast, “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty.” The most recent episode was released on July 8. (France & Heching, 2024)
