Statins for fatty liver disease: Beneficial or not?

A new multidimensional study finds that statins—despite the tendency for clinicians to under-prescribe them for NAFLD patients—were associated with a lower prevalence of NASH and fibrosis and might prevent NAFLD. Researchers postulate that these hepatoprotective findings may in part be due to the anti-lipid and anti-inflammatory characteristics of statins.
