Use of heavy lead aprons during dental x-rays may soon be a thing of the past

According to a media statement released by the American Dental Association (ADA) on February 1, the use of lead abdominal aprons or thyroid collars when conducting dental X-rays is no longer recommended. After reviewing published studies, an ADA expert panel determined that lead aprons and thyroid collars aren't necessary to shield patients from radiation exposure.
