FDA
Zicam and Orajel swabs recalled nationwide over contamination risk
June 9, 2025

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of all lots of Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs, and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs due to potential fungal contamination in the cotton swab components. The contamination could lead to serious or life-threatening infections, particularly in users with compromised nasal mucosa or weakened immune systems. While no serious adverse events have been reported to date, the company urges consumers to stop using the affected products immediately. The recall affects products distributed across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Consumers can request a refund or report adverse reactions through the FDA’s MedWatch program.
