CDC: Illnesses reported after ingestion of mushroom gummies with undisclosed ingredients

Between September 2023 and June 2024, five people, including one child, required hospital evaluation in Virginia after consuming gummies labeled to contain Amanita muscaria. Three of the five gummy brands analyzed contained unlabeled psilocybin and psilocin. CDC warns that health care providers and the public should be aware that edible products marketed as mushroom-containing nootropics may contain undisclosed ingredients and have been linked to severe illness. Individuals who experience symptoms after consuming these products should seek immediate medical attention.
