FDA authorizes novel device for detecting blood in the upper GI tract in adults

FDA has authorized for marketing the EnteraSense Ltd. Pill Sense System, a new prescription device that detects blood in the upper GI tract in adults as an adjunct to other clinical detection measures. The system includes a single-use digestible capsule with an optical sensor that uses light absorption technology to detect blood and wirelessly transmit data to a receiver.
