Finerenone shows promise for reducing proteinuria in IgA nephropathy

This retrospective study of 18 IgA nephropathy (IgAN) patients on full supportive care—including RAS blockade—found finerenone lowered protein-to-creatinine ratio by ~28% at 2 months and ~40% by 8 months, while maintaining stable eGFR over a mean follow-up of ~6.8 months.
Clinical takeaway: Consider adding finerenone to optimized RAS inhibition in IgAN to enhance proteinuria reduction while preserving kidney function.
