NIH launches comprehensive initiative to address Native health disparities

The NIH has launched the Native Collective Research Effort to Enhance Wellness (N CREW), a $268 million program to support Native American communities in leading research on overdose, substance use, and pain. Recognizing unique health disparities faced by these communities, the initiative aims to empower Tribes and Native organizations to conduct research addressing these issues and related factors like mental health. This program directly responds to community priorities and will fund research projects that prioritize Indigenous Knowledge and culture to improve public health outcomes.
