Semaglutide cuts risk of major CV events

Trial results
- The double-blinded SELECT trial compared SC once-weekly semaglutide 2.4 mg with placebo as an adjunct to standard of care for preventing major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) over a period of up to five years.
- The trial enrolled 17,604 adults ages 45 years or older who are overweight or obese, with established CVD, and no history of diabetes.
- The primary objective was reached by demonstrating a statistically significant and superior reduction in MACE of 20% among individuals treated with semaglutide 2.4 mg vs. placebo.
- Semaglutide 2.4 mg appeared to be safe and well-tolerated, in line with previous trials.
