What happens when patients stop semaglutide? The STEP 1 trial extension

During the 68-week STEP 1 trial, mean weight loss was 17.3% with semaglutide (2.4 mg SC weekly) vs. 2% with placebo. However, one year after withdrawal of semaglutide and lifestyle intervention, participants regained two‐thirds of their prior weight loss, and cardiometabolic improvements reverted towards baseline for most variables.
